Claire is awesome. I decided to study with her after watching an amazing performance she gave. I had never heard sounds like that coming out of a person before.

Her singing skills aside, she’s a great teacher and human being. Her course is about more than just singing. She challenges her students to get vulnerable, to feel, and channel the music to the audience. It’s about raw story telling!

This lady has skills!
I took one class, it provided much helpful instruction. She can be tough, but also warm and encouraging. A good teacher makes a difference,

I have taken Claire’s class 4 times and have found it has helped me immensely with self-confidence and performance. She has taught me to tell a story and to honor the art form. Claire’s teaching style is direct and highly entertaining. She is a true talent as a performer and teacher.

I’m very glad I started taking vocal lessons with Claire. I have been performing in bands for years and reached a point where I needed help to build my skill and confidence with my voice. In particular I recently began singing in a band where all I do is sing (as opposed to playing guitar and singing which is what I’m more used to), and also the some of the songs are slower, even close to ballads. I love playing music but for years my voice has been a sticking point for me. Whereas I do love to perform, most any vocalist can relate to the insecurities involved and being unsure how to perform at your best. Claire is gentle when she needs to be, and firm when you need it most. And she is always, always passionate about each of her students—each getting personal time and critique in her group classes. Also very important I feel is the structure of her class — students choose a song to work on for several weeks and then the final class you actually perform this song in front of friends and peers. I can’t stress how important this was for me as it helps me focus and holds everyone accountable of what they do outside of class. I will definitely be taking another class in the near future and look forward to it. If taking a vocal lesson has been on your to-do list for all too long like it was for me, whether you’ve never sang before or want to get better, sign up and you will be happy!

About Claire

ClairePortrait

Vocalist. Performer. Instructor. Musician.

Originally from San Jose, California, Claire’s first instrument was the trombone, which she played from fifth grade through her undergraduate education at University of California, Santa Cruz.  It was there that she discovered her love of singing and went on to earn her Bachelor of Music in Operatic Vocal Performance in 2008.  Claire was later awarded a scholarship to California Institute of the Arts and completed her Master of Fine Arts also in Operatic Vocal Performance.

While in Santa Cruz, Claire connected with the stilt walking community and fell in love with the art form.  She has been performing with the Daring Arts Movement since 2016 and with the Samba Stilt Circus of Santa Cruz, CA from 2003-2016. Claire traveled with Polly Pepper to Trinidad and Tobago to perform with the traditional Moko Jumbie Stilt Walkers in Carnaval.  Claire is also the Director of the Vocal Arts branch of D.A.M (Daring Arts Movement) where She enjoys the challenge of teaching stilts with the DAM StiltSkool and expanding her vocal offerings in collaboration with other performers.

Why Klaire with a “K”?

Claire’s name is spelled with a “C”, however, “K” is much more available when choosing usernames and is phonetically the same, so “Klaire” it is!
